A brief history

Amanda Kooser (she/they) graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a BA in English with an emphasis on creative writing and from the University of New Mexico with an MFA in creative writing. They spent a decade on staff with Entrepreneur Magazine and now freelance as a writer for a wide selection of publications and private clients. She holds the honorary rank of Captain in the Starfleet of her mind.
As a freelancer, Amanda covers a broad spectrum of topics, such as space, geek culture, Route 66 travel, small business profiles, science, New Mexico adventures, Americana music, technology and transatlantic journeys the old-fashioned way--by train and ship. In the creative writing realm, they have published work in The New Mexico Poetry Anthology, Saturday Evening Post, Stanchion Vast Chasm, Yellow Arrow Journal, Conceptions Southwest and The Twin Bill, and taught composition and creative writing to undergraduates at UNM.
In addition to her extensive journalism experience, Amanda is also a guitar player and songwriter with indie-rock/Americana bands The Dawn Hotel and So Dark a Train. When not glued to a keyboard, she can be found training in and teaching Aikido at Albuquerque Aikikai, hiking around New Mexico or cruising Route 66 in her pink-and-lavender 1956 DeSoto Fireflite.
Amanda's novel-length fiction work is represented by literary agent Julia Kim of The Rights Factory.
